Is your vision BIG enough?

Lately, I have been thinking a lot about vision.  I recently went to a phenomenal vision board workshop – well, really it was a party.  I created my vision board for the year…..and beyond.  A key component of designing it was answering the question “How do you want to feel?”  I chose pictures and words that involved the feelings I want in my life.  For me, they include: free, clear, fulfilled, secure, strong, and empowered.

Once getting clear on these feelings, I have also been thinking about the impact I want to have with my vision.  And wondering, is it big enough?

Are you creating a big enough vision?

The idea of ‘going big' has been impacted by some other recent events for me:

  1. Realization of my upper limiting beliefs: I read the book, The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks.  Have you read it?  (I actually listened to it on Audible – one of my favorite ways to consume books.). One of the concepts Gay talks about is “upper limiting beliefs.”  This is where you have a ‘tolerance cap’ for how much happiness you will allow yourself.  Often, what we are seeking out in life is not happiness or success, but comfort. Even when we do achieve something extraordinary, we aren't going to be able to process the awe and gratitude we feel if we are not used to feeling that way very often.  That's why it's important to be aware of the upper limiting beliefs we we do not let them stop us from reaching our big vision.

  2. “Where there is no vision, people parish.” – Oprah Winfrey: One of my dearest friends got tickets for us to see Oprah on her current 2020 vision tour.  There were many takeaways from the day-long event.  Vision was a key message.  Make sure you have it and make sure it is big!

  3. Listening to visionary entrepreneurs: The recent two episodes of the Social Change Leaders podcast highlights two very visionary entrepreneurs.  Dr. Traci Baxley, founder of Social Justice Parenting, is building a movement – not a business, not a program, not a philosophy – but a movement built on radical love.  And, Joel Hodroff, has a completely new way we can operate our economy moving from a win-lose to a win-win economic system.  He truly has a big idea that can be incredibly transformative.  Both of these social entrepreneurs are going BIG and I am excited to see where that leads them over this next decade.  Check out more here.
